Dining at Voco Grand Central Hotel
On our first night in Glasgow, we decided to dine at the beautiful Voco Grand Central Hotel restaurant, and WOW! What an excellent decision it was because everything tasted incredible and the atmosphere gave off bougie, fancy vibes throughout the evening.
Main: Gnocchi with fresh sun-dried tomatoes and red peppers ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This dish was full of flavour, the presentation was beautiful, and it smelled amazing! The best part was the sweet, fresh burst of flavour from the sun-dried tomatoes. Plus, I love Italian food, and this dish was just perfect.
Dessert: Chocolate fondant, ice cream, and apricot sauce ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Chocolate? Yes! Ice cream? Yes! Apricot sauce? Ummmm, this was the part that lost me at first, but despite my skepticism, I decided to try it. I’m glad I pushed myself to try something new because it was surprisingly lovely. The chocolate mixed with the sweet, fruity apricot, and the cold, creamy ice cream worked so well together!
Cocktail: Butterfly Kiss ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Butterfly Kiss is a beautiful blend of Beefeater 24 gin, Aperol, coconut, and grapefruit soda. I chose this drink because I liked the name and the inspiration behind it. Scotland is known for many breathtaking sights, and one of the most impressive is Ben Nevis. Ben Nevis experienced a record high population of butterflies, which helped pollinate and sustain the country’s highest peak. I found this fact inspiring, educational, and a refreshing inspiration for a cocktail.
Taste-wise, it was a lovely, sweet flavour that went down a treat. The drink had a peachy-orange colour, and as I mentioned before, it was delicious!
Everything tasted amazing, the staff were incredibly friendly and polite, and the restaurant's decor was right up my alley, elegant with books and plants, the perfect combination.
